Exciting things are happening in Central Square! More Than Words, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and empowering youth, is set to open its new storefront, Boomerangs by More Than Words, at 563 Massachusetts Ave., marking a new chapter for both the organization and the Central Square community.
More Than Words serves young people ages 16-24 who are navigating difficult life circumstances, such as foster care, homelessness, and involvement with the court system. By providing these youth with hands-on work experience in running a retail and online bookstore, More Than Words creates a unique environment where young people gain crucial life and work skills. Through this model, the organization aims to help them overcome barriers, build confidence, and take charge of their futures.
With this new location, More Than Words hopes to continue the legacy of Boomerangs by creating a vibrant, community-focused retail space that supports the Greater Boston community in multiple ways. Plans are in place to open the Central Square location by December 1 at the latest, while More Than Words is also exploring options to reopen the former Boomerangs thrift store location in Jamaica Plain.
Stay tuned for updates on the store opening and how you can support More Than Words in its mission. With their arrival, Central Square will gain not only a unique retail destination but also a powerful resource for youth empowerment and community impact.
