Speak Your Piece
The BID turned every available storefront in Central into a canvas, inviting young voices to comment on the current historic moment. Curated by Rixy Fernandez, these pieces can be found as you walk throughout the district, on big walls and in unexpected nooks, each one encouraging us to stop and think.

Visiting Artists
Årtists from near and far visit the Square to add color and commentary. Most recently, Hueman and Mz. Icar traveled from their respective home bases to leave their mark.

Starlight Square
Public art is an essential element of Starlight Square, a BID initiative to support the Cultural District during COVID-19. As you walk the exterior, take in four pieces curated by Street Theory, an artist collective led by Liza and Victor Quiñonez, and a mural by youth artists from the Community Art Center. Their mural, entitled #BreonnaUnderTheStars, presents the Black Lives Matter movement through the lens of women who have become icons of the movement, but still have not received justice.

The BID’s inaugural public art campaign, the Mural project paid homage to the past, present, and future of Central Square, a site where discussions of creativity, equity, inclusion, social and environmental justice have gone on for generations.
